~To Grandmother's House We Go~
Over the river and thru the woods,
To grandmother's house we go;
The horse knows the way
To carry the sleigh,
Thru the white and drifted snow, oh!
Over the river and thru the woods,
Oh, how the wind does blow!
It stings the toes,
And bites the nose,
As over the ground we go.
Over the river and thru the woods,
To have a first-rate play;
Oh, hear the bell ring,
"Ting-a-ling-ling!"
Hurrah for Thanksgiving Day-ay!
Over the river and thru the woods,
Trot fast my dapple gray!
Spring over the ground,
Like a hunting hound!
For this is Thanksgiving Day.
And now I'M the grandmother! I don't feel old enough to be a grandmother....but a grandmother I am. For years I traveled to my kids' 'grandmothers' houses for Thanksgiving. Now, the kids travel 'over the river and through the woods' to our house.....where we're waiting with open arms, lots of turkey, and much love.
From all of us at RoseCreekCottage:
May you have a Blessed Thanksgiving with your loved ones today and everyday. Happy Thanksgiving!

We don't go over a river to get to my mom's house but we do go thru the woods so I usually have this diddy stuck in my head as we make the short drive.
Enjoy your day filled with family, love, and new memories made.
Happy Thanksgiving.
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving. :)
Hugs and blessings my friend! ")
Happy Thanksgiving to you!
Yes, it's wonderful being a grandmother...my granddaughter loves to "rat out" her father...she knows that "Grandmummy" will make sure she gets her way! Hope your weekend is just the way you like it! Happy Thanksgiving weekend, now it's time for Christmas. Oh, and that is my very favorite holiday song of all!~ Thanks for that
Sandi
I hope to one day be just that grandmother. And is that your house? What a perfect setting and a beautiful picture! Happy belated!
Jules...I've always loved that song...and now it applies to ME!
Hilary...Thank you dolly!
Mel....I KNOW yours was good! Blessings to heaven and back!!
Lemon Shortbread....I hope yours was fabulous!
Sandi...It was just beautiful! I hope yours was, too!! It's a GREAT song, no?!
Erin...I just KNOW you'll be that grandmother someday! And yes...that's our house! We built it 23 years ago when the boys were 10 and 3. It's a true family 'homestead' that I hope we never have to leave!
Wonderful blog!
